An inspiration for The Public Square’s forums was The Center for the study of Democratic Institutions. To borrow from their founder, Robert Maynard Hutchins:
” The Center’s prejudice is democracy; its operating procedure, the dialog.”
While the Center served a community of engaged scholars, The Public Square forums seek to engage subject matter experts, organizations, and interested citizen in topical forums both online and at the local level.
TPS forums are a subscription model for continuous learning communities for participants to deepen their knowledge of critical topics, participate in discussions related to that topic, and engage in dialog focused on developing responses and solutions to issues within the topic.
Forums include these elements:
- Repository of key knowledge and resources related to the forum topic,
- Curated news and information related to developments within the topic, with guided discussion on these developments
- Issue-focused, time-bounded discussions designed to bring each diverse community’s capabilities to bear on problems and to develop opportunities.
